Nice. I probably would have bought an 8GB kit about 5-6 months ago when I added more RAM to my machine had I known about this, but I find the 6GB in it instead to be enough for my needs. That, plus the 120GB SSD I put in it about 3 months ago and it flies. Fast enough that I'm not looking to replace it any time soon (though the 11" MBA sure looks slick).

Since there's no protrusion, this qualifies as a misnomer.

I don't know about anyone else, but at the 1 min mark where the "targets" are being shown, they definitely look like they are protruding/jumping off the screen. I certainly don't have any experience or knowledge of this technology, but as far as I am concerned that is 3D.

An accompanying music video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnO-TidMY8g) to go along with Steve's bio book, just redo the follow clip and replace the guy with an iPhone in some scenes and in other scenes replace the girl with the iPad 2! :D

This is a surprise? Just look at the titles. Who the hell reads these rags anyway?

I am a subscriber to GQ, Details, and Wired...I have never even looked at the iPad app bc I wont pay twice...they should push to offer it with print subscription, and if an upgrade give a reason why I should pay extra...right now I can get a print edition for $1 per issue

    CF is ugly

Are you referring to what you see in the photo?

I suggest you look at pictures of current Formula 1 cars. They are constructed of carbon fibre panels, painted, and are gorgeous.

The dude has issues, and took off with his wife clinging to the hood of his car. If she tried to roll off she may could have been killed! But hey, let's go ahead and blame the victime here.

you mean, the woman has issues... the way i see it, she was clinging under the influence... which person would voluntarily cling on a car's windshield wiper... i mean, if somebody wants to leave, then let the person leave.

So since I have stopped listening, if you could, please explain about the hard drive being worth $179. Because Newegg is listing 120 gig laptop drives for less than $80.

    The transfer cable & black color = $99 ;)
    j/k :D

I thought you were just exaggerating, but after buying Kinect this weekend I found out it requires you to place the sensor:

    - within 2 to 6 feet of the floor
    - where the floor is visible to the sensor
    - in a position where there is 6 to 8 feet of "free" space for single player or 8 feet of "free" space for two players
    - centered below or on top of your TV (no angles, TV mount not included)
    - within clear sight (given)
    - well lit area with minimal ambient noise

Ridiculous. You would need at minimum a 42" HDTV and a radius of 8 feet around the Kinect sensor to play adequately.

I refuse to complicate my living room setup by putting the 360 in there. So, I guess I"ll just send the damn thing back as there is no possible furniture configuration in my game room to meet those requirements.

    Too bad.

I can understand the requirements can be taxing on many rooms.

You mentioned a 42" TV. Not sure why that is ridiculous, as many users sit under 30" away from 27 and 20 inch monitors.

I have used kinect on 32inch, 42 inch and a 54 inch sets.
Of course the 54" is optimum, but the 32 inch is still enjoyable.

For a first generation device I am very pleased with the new toy.

As an aside, a CNN article today about Patent Reform:

Senate passes patent bill, could create lots of jobs (http://money.cnn.com/2011/03/30/technology/patent_reform/index.htm)

    The short form:

So many good batsmen fail to go on from a century, they relax a little and the concentration goes, Harmison knew that and really roughed him up in that over, it was the preceding 3 balls that got him...

Still a long way to go for both sides.

Storing my files so that apple can dictate what I can or can't have on their servers? Companies essentially owning my content?

    Yeah I think I'll pass.

Cloud based services are anti-technology, with garbage like this companies have no incentive to increase capacities on storage devices and all content would be under a corporation's server who's sole basis is to make money while holding your data hostage.

Apple specifically is one of the most unethical companies out there.

Completely agree, who gives people the right to patent a name, like in "App store":)

Well, not completely agree, but the way it is in the states just suks, patents should be used for inventions and start using them within the year (or 2) otherwise they lose the that very patent.

You are confusing patents and trademarks.

Company and product names are trademarked. Books, movies, software, music, and things that are non tangible and can be copied are copyrighted.

New ways of making things are patented.

Trademarks last forever. Patents and (theoretically) copyrights last for a limited time. If you write a book or design a new water gun, you get the rights for a limited time. You get to keep the name of your company forever.

My one and only hope for 10.7 is that Apple FINALLY brings OS X up to par with Windows when it comes to connecting--and staying connected--to network shares.

To be honest the whole networking situation could do with a rethink. WebDAV perfomance in Finder is terrible, which is funny because iDisk uses WebDAV.

And this could do with some work as well. It's been like that for years. Why not give any help — most new users won't know to type smb:// for Windows.

    Nice... (sarcasm)

I don't find nose, eyebrow, tongue, lip, neck, nipple, etc piercing at all attractive. Also tattoos are horrendous. If your going to get one put it where no one can see it.

At least its not as bad as these weirdos like this guy:

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v251/joserouse/Odd/CatMan_M_Aitchison.jpg

I watched a show about him on Discovery Health. He's one messed up guy. He has had teeth implants, cheek implants, etc.
I think there is nothing wrong with him. He's living his life the way he feels most comfortable. Iwould like to meet him. I would also like to meet The Enigma and all the others.

I can't wait to hear about all of your fun ideas for tracking someone who's only 60 feet away. :confused:The 60 foot range limitation doesn't make this exploit pointless, as many in this thread have implied. The technology allows tracking of people who are known to pass certain points, like the doorway of a building or along a certain jogging path. Since the tracking can be automatic, the "spy" doesn't have to be personally within 60 feet of the "victim". Instead, the victim need only pass within 60 feet of any of the surveillance sensors the spy has planted.

So it's reasonable to make the point that this technique wouldn't be worth the trouble because other methods of tracking people are at least as effective and have larger ranges, but it's less reasonable to say that Nike tracking is of no concern because people can see other people when they are 60 feet away.

How do you know it kicks out and accurate EDL? How do you know if it still kicks out solid OMF files to your sound designer?

The software handles 4K video, not even "prosumers" work in 4K so I doubt they'd bother supporting that and not things like EDL and OMF exports.

Not in light of the fact the G5 is only one core while the iMacIntel has two. :( Seems to me like it's more impressive one 2GHz G5 core holds it's own up against two C2D cores running faster.
I think it's pretty damn impressive considering it's emulated.
