I don't claim to know a thing about trademark law, but looking at this simply I find it difficult to understand how the term "Windows" can become a trademark but "App Store" cannot.
Agreed.... Macs had windows long before PC's had "Windows". I think that if one can be a trademark then the other surely can. Personally, I think that if there were no such precedence, then neither should be allowed as a trademark. But terms like this have been allowed as trademarks for quite some time. Microsoft should just drop it -- what is their vested interest here anyway? There are a thousand things they can call their application store.

Because its **** as it doesn't have straightforward unit conversions and because everyone else in the world other than the US (and for a small number of things the UK) uses metric.I use metric feet.

I was satisfied with the image quality on my 20" Dell widescreen, but sitting at my desk to watch a movie instead of my couch isn't the movie experience I'm going for.
This is precisely why other companies' attempts to "bring the PC into the living room" have failed (and will continue to do so). Think of the logistics of this (if you will) from an interior design perspective. Are you going to put your media center PC on a TV stand in your living room across from the couch to watch movies/TV? Are you also going to have a desk chair sitting right in front of it for those times you'd like more PC than TV? People (families) do not use computers in their living room and they do not watch movies/TV sitting at a desk.
This is why iTV is brilliant. Living rooms are for content, not computing. Content is the only aspect of your computer that is necessary in the living room, and it is all iTV delivers.
thoughts?

This might be a attractive buy for me. I hope it Kuo is right on track... now if he could just refine his iPhone 5 predictions..

Please come to Korea. Samsung have been doing this illegally for years, often suing the small person to popperdom. No big corporation is good, but when you attach massive corps under the umbrella of a conglomerate, you combine all of that evil into one massive black hole.
At least Apple try to get to the bottom of suicides and deaths at their factories; at least they have only one core business to protect ruthlessly. Samsung (indeed, the biggest copycat I've seen) are huge pirates (selling fake DVD's/CD's in their grocery stores; rebadging Mercedes, Nissan, etc., cars for their own line; buying out large portions of most newspapers here). Apple's rise to the top has been fettered with bad, but not outright illegal bad to the extent Samsung's has.
Now we have bad planting a peck on evil.
I fly internationally for business, with three visits per year to a different division of Samsung.
Please do not get me wrong, I am not advocating for them.
I have a full understanding of the business culture of both Samsung and Apple. The point I'm making is Apple could choose to take the high road, no one is forcing their hand, nor will Apple suffer.
Apple's track record is too well established, just witness their overwhelming success.
There is simply no reason, contrary to what some may believe, for Apple to add yet another law suit to the long list they've originated.
Apple could have chosen to be a world class leader with a great positive aire of confidence, not fear and paranoia.
It's no secret that Samsung and others run a rough and tumble business in their region.
Finally, its my preference to choose the products that suit my needs no matter who builds them.
We live in a global economy without the luxury of choosing the country of manufacturer. While it could be argued "just don't buy from them". We all know that isn't going to hurt a huge company one bit.

Isnt it pretty reasonable to assume that this will really just be iPod related/iTunes movie store related because macrumors did not get an invite but iLounge did. ABC News is even talking about the news iPods and Movie store. This thread has really gone crazy with people talking about the airport express and such. It has been a year since the iPod nano has been updated so we can be CERTAIN that their will be new nanos.

Surely I'm not the only one who's noticed that the i7 is slower than the i5, and that the Radeon HD 6970M is slower than the 6750M.
Whaaaaa?
The baselines are different when you click the different models. The 6970M is most definitely faster than the 6750M.

During the meanwhilst, any news from Amazon Unbox ?
How well did they do?
Because it's easy to throw numbers at us, but withouth any comparison, it doesn't really say that much (although it's probably very good)

streaming original masters of the song to prevent uploading is very smart, but will probably be only for iTunes purchased songs.
I assume they could do that for all songs they have in the iTunes Store library independent if you purchased through iTunes or not. long as the file is in your iTunes library.
For a song that isn't in the iTunes Store library ( those without the covers) they probably haven't negotiated any rights.

I wondering how many people are now going to put off buying a Mac Pro and wait for a faster Kentsfield
The Mac Pros a fast as it is now, Kentsfield would smash the previous benchmarks but a fair margin.
Ive heard about cloverton coming all along. and have put off buying a Mac pro
id much rather have 8 cores then 4 for the work i do

Actually this is completely untrue.
Last week I signed a secret, completely exclusive, contract with Apple for the iPhone. It'll only work on my home's DECT network.
Despite this, I'm expecting millions of sales. People will buy it despite peharrinet's complete lack of coverage. So I don't have a problem with that.
BTW, you'll need to agree to a 36 month contract, our base plan is just $50 a month and comes with unlimited mobile to mobile, plus three "anytime" minutes (charged in five minute increments.) Excess airtime is just $1/minute.

No, I mean the lowest repair/return rate of the whole industry, and the highest praise in terms of support and reliability of the whole market...care to take a look around, perhaps?
We all know how public problems with Apple may get...1 PowerBook down is worth 1000 DOA Dells that never make it to the news...or perhaps you think the existence of iFixIt means all Macs are cracked...right? :rolleyes:Fixed!
I have to repair an iBook G3 this week.

Oh, boy, assume that all former Nokia Symbian users will automatically all buy Nokia Windows Mobile Phones - that's scientific...
all current symbian users go to win
no webOS factor (other than "other") ?
i have to believe that a couple of these platforms will surprise us

Yeah... yeah... Movies for the American audience...
...I don't even get TV shows... :(
Yes, but you get to live in Norway, and in Bergen no less. I'll be in Bergen next week, and will be happy to bring you some TV shows.

I run XBMC Live on an Acer Revo connected to my TV in the entertainment room that plays any 720p and 1080p media I throw at it. I don't own an Airport Express. I don't invest in an Apple ecosystem. This stuff needs to be OPEN! :D
I want to have ONE device that does it all (my Acer Revo) versus having to buy a number of overpriced Apple devices and/or software to get this to work. :)
Don't pretend you actually care about 'open'. To you, 'open' simply means 'free'. I'm going to make a stab in the dark and make the logical assumption that all your '720p and 1080p media' is torrented videos. Please, correct me if I'm wrong
To me, it just sounds like yet another person wanting everything but willing to pay nothing. What a sustainable model that is...

The simple fact is that I should not have to obey a 70mph speed limit if I don't want to. Why would I even bother driving a car that can hit 186mph (with the speed governor removed, with the governor top speed is 155mph) at 70 mph? A Ford Fiesta can hit those speeds, what's the point of fast cars if you're going to follow the speed limit in them?
EDIT: @ Rodimus - Had she hit me when I slammed on the brakes, she would have been at fault. All I have to do is tell the cop that I thought I saw an animal run across the road. She is supposed to keep enough distance to be able to stop if I slam on the brakes. Doesn't matter than I cut her off, she has to prove that I did, and she also has to prove that I slammed on the breaks with malice.
-Don
You do realize it's easy for me to prove malice on your braking? Your previous behavior just shows clear evidence. At those high speeds if she would have hit you would have flown out your window or left with a really bad bruise from seatbelt. Eiher way at that point, I could ask that you be subject to a lie detector due to gravity of the possible incident.
You are 16, reckless and crap driver. Stay off the road.

Ha! Probably crossed their minds.
I highly doubt it. Remember, when Apple gets big, they'll have the group of haters that follow Microsoft claiming monopoly.

Evolved???? And comparing humans to natural selection of animals????
Disregarding the poster you were responding to, humans are animals and are the result of natural selection just as much as any other species on the planet. Funny how the intro of a red iPod has led to me posting this.
I think the pict. of the iPod is awesome and I think they will sell well on color alone.
