Alright, so after rereading all the posts in this thread, I just wanna clear one thing up that I'm still confused about - streaming recorded shows works over both wifi and 3g, bu streaming live tv only (officially) happens over wifi, right? And it will work on any wifi network, not just the one that your eyetv device is on? Finally, has anyone tried streaming live tv over 3g by using
    a jailbroken phone?

I've downloaded the app and would try doing all those things myself, but I can't get it to connect, as I have not validated my "my eyetv" account. How does one validate said account, anyways?? I've gotten no emails and can't seem to find that as an option.

For not much more you could have a Mercedes SLK.
Your solution to the "ugly" Volt is an SLK? I've seen maybe 3 of the 2004-2010 models on the road, whereas I used to see at least one pre-04 model a week. It sure wasn't the performance that caused the dropoff.
edit: can actually anybody come up with a more ugly car than the juke without the Aztek or a SangYong ? honestly i'm hard pressed

Buick Rendezvous, Nissan Cube, post-03 Maxima, 2011 Acura TL, 2001 Toyota Sienna, and so on.

Not that the Juke isn't ugly.

What I'm doing is I used QT Pro and did File/Export and save as a Quicktime Movie. This way, it saves the file as it downloads and I can watch it tonight without the lag and jerkiness.

If you get that to work, PutFile it or something....

No, it's called Holophonic sound. You have 2 ears, and with headphones you can reproduce 3d sound using holophonics.

Technically you need 3 speakers to produce 3d sound. Manufacures claim they can do it with 2 but they don't. You need a center channel to balance the sides.

The update does NOT install on an iPhone 3G !!

So why is it Apple can say it's OK to leave this tracking "bug" on my iPhone 3G running iOS 4.2.1, and only fix the iPhone 3GS and 4?

People still have the 3G under contract and they are left with a deliberate bug that Apple refuses to fix.

Someone needs to threaten Apple with a class action lawsuit.

Just because a couple of geeks running MacRumours think this is front page worthy doesn't mean it is.

This just in, a game came out for Mac!

It's more embarrassing to the OS then anything.
What? Its by far one of the biggest games of the year in the games industry regardless of platform. PC news sites are covering it too, as would any platform specific news site when the most important games are being released.

    Crazy.

Magnesium is seldom used in its' pure form. It is almost always used as an alloy (mixed with other metals). It can be very brittle, or even soft, depending on how the alloy is crafted. If you have ever seen a picture of an airplane landing and the wheel is on fire, airplane wheel components are often made with magnesium. Magnesium fires are very dangerous to put out. Directly spraying water on burning magnesium usually will result in an explosion. However, starting fire to magnesium is much harder than some here have suggested.

As for cost, magnesium is more expensive than commercial grade aluminum. However, it is a very good metal to CAST. So, you can cast a part in magnesium that requires very little finish machining, as opposed to other material that are formed by bending sheet metal, or machining it from solid stock.

Finally, phosphorous is a magnesium product, or a very similar substance (do not remember exactly) which we are all familiar with. It is used in sparklers, road flares, smoke bombs (grenades), etc. It is unusual in that it produces its own oxygen when burning. That is why it can be immersed in water and still burn. The heat is too extreme for the water to cool it and the water cannot smother it because it does not require air.

is there somewhere in vegas a bet going who's first? vista or leopard?
There's no doubt that Vista will be first - on track for November release....

Unfortunately, the consumer release has to wait until after the Saturnalia purchasing orgy - so some will ignore the millions of copies running at businesses and claim that Vista ships sometime in January.

ps: RC2 (build 5744) is pretty darn good - I've moved several of my systems over to it for day-to-day use. Also upgraded a couple of Media Center Editions to Vista Ultimate. Vista's MCE is a big step forward for an already impressive product.

pps: Since one of Leopard's "super secret" features is Apple's attempt at a media center (to go with Frontrow, iTV and the new Conroe mini-tower/HTPC form factor), Microsoft has raised the bar. Since Apple is running Vista internally, of course they already know that. ;)

I do not care how hot it gets as long as my Mac goes to sleep when I close it!!!

    :)

Yep, that fixed that issue on my MBP, too. I can now close the lid and it goes to sleep. Amazing!

The apple store had ordered me a new top case, motherboard, and sleep sensor to try and fix this. I guess they can send all that back. :)

Oh please. word opens in like less than a second and I only have a core duo and 1.5gbs of ram.

I only have 1 GB with my MacPro. Excel & Word only run slowly if I'm also running Parallels Desktop for Mac at the same time. Add in FireFox & you'll find out how slow virtual memory can be big time.

At those time I'm not sure I can wait until those FB DIMMs come down in price to a more reasonable, affordable level.

Oh awesome - thanks for the information.

Both of my cuttings are on my inner biceps (sp?) - on the left is a "Chi" (18th letter of Hebrew alphabet - symbolizes life) which I got when I was having some problems with, well, living. On the right is a triple moon goddess symbol, which seemed appropriate given my witchcraft. Actually, this one is a bit more aesthetic to me as well - I got it because I like it and like it because it is what it is.
Glad to meet a Wiccan :)
Not personally into any forms of religion myself, but have looked into Wicca.
I am however more into metaphysical stuff. My latest adventure is in crystals and minerals. I shouldnt say newest, my interest in metaphysics started around the age of ten. Im not heavy full blown into it.

The share thing is quite tricky isnt it?
Last time there is a report adding the sale of ipads to the apple computers, then apple instantly overreaches at least two major pc competitors in only one quater? i believe most CS5 users run their job on non-mac platform, and adobe may have that data. Just curious whether CS5 shows the same performance on both platforms if identical computer resources are offered. I guess those editors have their preference since they usually possess several workstations for specific jobs and they can try it out.

I actually work in a place that sells and designs high end workstations for people, and there are a lot of people running CS5 on macs. Many editors work with both, and even if they prefer CS5 FCP is still used a lot, and not being able to open a FCP project could cost you a client. It is best to go with a system that can run all major NLE's (FCP, CS5, and Avid). Also the cost of a PC editing workstation is not much cheaper then a Mac workstation.

And don't forget Davinci Resolve, which only works on Macs.

"iSteve"? Ugh. Anyway, don't worry, they will preserve his head in a jar (http://findicons.com/pack/1227/futurama_vol_5_heads_in_jars), Futurama-style.

Only Steve's head won't be in a jar like those depicted by your link...

Rather, his head will be in a big glass cube! :D

yep, a win-win situation, where all of you guys are doing the drive-test for free. I think ATT is pretty happy now. ;)
Waiting for some troubleshooting apps, so you can do even more volunteering work for ATT. Indeed, a win-win.

Anyways, for ATT, this is a perfect little app to save lots of money for them. Smart idea.

People don't HAVE to use it but I am sure it would be somewhat satisfying to be able to report problems areas that might otherwise go undiagnosed. This isn't going to take the place of AT&T network testers and yes it does save AT&T money...
