just sold my imac, but with my new Windows 7 pc I built I might be able to hold out until Lion hits. Maybe longer as my Windows 7 pc is pretty nice.

Don't discount microsoft - they have money to lose for years in trying to get #1 for MP3 - slowly they creep up and overturn Apple - apple doesn't ahve the same stamina.

Aside from trying to be funny, I was just pointing out that--for myself--I'd rather read about Mac rumors not MS rumors. I think the whole point of confirming Zune this early is just this, create spin. A consumer, music product that is years away from making any impact is now first page news on Macrumors...again.
I understand its potential. I understand MS's deep pockets. I would just prefer to read about it on MSrumors.com or Zunerumors.com. :D

I just updated mine and there is a noticeable difference in speed with this update. It is much faster in opening applications and text messages.

I've currently got a single 1GB stick in a three year old PB - will that be OK to swap into a new MBP?

No, RAM from any PPC Mac won't work in any Intel Mac. Apple use a different type of RAM in their Intel machines and whilst all Intel Macs (aside from the Mac Pro) use the same type of RAM the same isn't true of the old PPC Macs.

The only thing that sucks about this timing change is that my iPhone 4 won't still be under Apple's free 1yr warranty when I re-sell it to buy an iPhone 5.

The Linux kernel takes little time to break. I'm more familiar with the code and thus it also takes less time to isolate issues. OS X kernel (XNU) takes less time but depending on the area you're checking, debugging and isolation may require a bit more time (if you take into account that AppleTalk source code is almost unreadable and totally deprecated) [...] I didn't have much time left for working on Microsoft Windows but I've received the most helpful feedback from the MSRC people on potentially interesting stuff to check. As someone who uses MS word as the default word processor... a 'word processing' mode in Pages sounds dandy... some of use just don't have the time or inclination (energy) to learn pages which is so very different (not worse) than word....

One of my mates has a wired MM, not a real fan of the ergonomics of the Apple mice (mouses? Please deities, let's not start that debate again :p). Start to cramp my hand a fair bit after 5 minutes, very fingertip stuff compared to my Logitech Cordless Optical (no numbers, just called that). It also takes a bit of practice remembering to lift your left finger when right clicking and stuff like that, and the marble annoys me a fair bit, especially scrolling long lists in iTunes etc. Don't practice it a lot though, it may get better with time.

Does anyone know where to find the specs for the iMac that will list whether or not the new models have SATA III connections internally? Not interested if they didn't upgrade to 6gbps. (SATA II is 3gbps).
If SATA III, then I'll order with just 2TB and add a Vertex 3 SSD later, but if they're still SATA II, then may be a deal buster.

If they add the "word processing mode", then that simultaneously renforces my gripes with it (see other threads), then negates them.
It's an extra step in setting up a document, but I like the thought of it from a productivity standpoint. As long as there's no Clippy.

The people who own AAPL stock are not like you and me. I'd be shocked if they've even heard of Macworld. They don't use or own Apple computers, they just automatically buy whatever hot stock happens to have gone up this week. When it starts going down, they sell off. Tech stocks are especially prone to this kind of short-sighted selling. It's cold in New York, investors are selling in order to go on vacation. Simiple as that.
