I just don't really see how anyone should be surprised. It should be totally obvious to anyone who watches the smart phone market that Android would easily surpass IOS--they are indeed everywhere and I'm sure when it comes time to get a new phone--those with no preconceived ideas on what they want will walk out of the store with some kind of Android. Most who go in looking for an iPhone will probably leave with one. As long as Apple--and their shareholders are happy, I don't think it really matters.

[QUOTE=mackiwi]umm....that magazine add looks rather real to me. WTF?

iCreate magazine buts together a fake ad each issue. The ad shown is a kind of "What if" or "Wishful Thinking" feature of their magazine. Had the poster posted the full page graphic, you would have seen this.

Wow, really, who comes to an Apple rumor site and complains about people saying pro Apple things.

You should go to Autoblog next and complain about people getting excited over new cars.

    Best Post.

(qoute above me). Let alone isn't it that Apple orders for such an amount of processors for such a price (discounted over market price), and then puts those in laptops. So what I mean it really doesn't matter if Yonah is reduced does it?

Ah yes can we have a decent source please not that ridiculous piece of ill conceived drivel that is the Daily Mail.

It seems legitimate enough... Although the reality of that story is Apple chose to pay some guy who was down on his luck and he lost some patents to public domain a bit of change and a trip to California as opposed to potentially have to pay Burst millions and 10s of millions of dollars or even more on their patent claims.

Was a pretty good move on Apple's part.

In every release of Mac OS X, there have been a separate client & server editions, so this is nothing new. Not sure why Apple bundled the 2 together for preview 1.

Yeah but one of the features of Lion is server will be included with it, so it makes sense that they ultimately be bundled.

EDIT: assume we split in two groups but then we get back together in the same room and stay together.
if both groups move to the same room, and there are monsters, which group gets attacked? do the groups combine their stats in the battle?
another scenario: we are in the start room, i split myself away and search the start room, while the other 6 move into the next room (so they are good with monsters). turn 2 the search the second room and i join them back. this way we search 2 rooms and move in one round, without splitting the group.

Whichever team enters the room first, turn order-wise, fights the monster.

    Your second scenario is allowed.

Could I just explore the first room and save a turn for later(I'm not necessarily wanting to do this, just asking if it's possible)?

No, heroes can't save turns for later, only the villain can do that.

All depends on whether the (9+3) is on the top or bottom. As the OP typed it, it's on the top.

    48/2(9+3) = 24 * 12 = 288

    48/[2(9+3)] would've been = 2

I agree w/ this. Everyone has internet at home and everyone who is so into media, already has a media server. Stuff like air video and streamtome works just fine for streaming media from anywhere internet is available.

People who care so much about accessing media enough to take their time to upload their stuff to cloud can certainly do same at their own house. Is this really for people who don't have internet at home or can't afford nas at home?

Seriously, what is the point of all this? Only time cloud storage works is for group collaboration where people need to share things from everywhere. For personal stuff, personal computer works the best w/ decent internet.

Not everyone has decent internet at home, you know. And those that do might not keep a computer on 24/7. I know that I'm in that situation. Leaving my MacPro on and not asleep 24/7 adds about 400-500 dollars a year to my electrical costs.

I could get the 500GB paid amazon cloud storage account for that much!

I don't know what a centimeter is when I'm eyeballing something.. and I don't want to. I run in miles, I measure in inches, I weigh in pounds. I'm not doing conversions to kilos or megas all the time in real life, so um..

    Well.

I do more conversions metric to imperial than imperial to imperial. The imperial system isn't that hard to use, and I don't think it's mattered before what the rest of the world does anyway.

Neko Girl, it looks like my first reply to your comment got censored for its reference to a song from Team America, so I'll try again without said reference :)

You run in miles? That's impressive. I run in metres. After that, I'm stuffed. BTW, no one really talks about 'megas', unless it's megabytes. Increasing computer storage is teaching us a lot of fun new prefixes giga, and now tera have finally entered popular usage too. You have those too right? So you see people, you're already learning the metric system and you didn't even know it! The rest we could probably teach you in about 10 minutes if you have the time?

Apple's newest and greatest always has high prices, then they will come down.

With the Gx range, this didn't happen as IBM rarely changed their prices.

Welcome to the new Intel world where prices change on a monthly basis.

Remember when the Mac Mini were introduced?

First they were quite expensive, then prices came down within a few weeks.

I can't remember when the next Intel price drop is expected - someone tell us please? (probably in about 2 or 3 months time - Octoberish.)

Close but no banana. Any type of tablet needs to have at least 1"-1.5" of border so when you pick it up one handed you don't touch the screen. Also I think Apple would NEED to have grips on a couple sides of the thing. I don't know ab out you guys but picking up my MBP one handed is difficult and sometimes scary.
Also screen size dictates battery life. Granted this picture doesn't depict the screen size but it can't be larger then 12-13" max

12-13" + Intel Core 2 Solo ULV + the entire backside being a battery + a swivel keyboard on the thing + a modified OS X GUI == Apple for the win.

    Just look at the specs:

    1GHz Transmeta Crusoe

    Transmeta sucks....like black hole sucking.

I've always been of the impression, since the time of the pre-release discussions of tablet PCs, that they were a solution looking for a problem.

I would never, ever want to spend my money on an electronic equivalent to a notepad. And I happen to use notepads, BTW. However, if I was taking notes with it (which is NOT at all what I do with the notepads I own), there's no way in the world I'd be writing on it; that would be far too slow.

Why would I want to waste my time learning shorthand (which makes the assumption that TPCs could handle various forms of shorthand) so I could do through writing what I can already do at 70+ WPM via typing. And with typing, it solves the whole problem of handwriting recognition, because there ISN'T ANY.

The TPC market is so highly specialized and so incredibly vertical that I believe it would be nothing more than a distraction for Apple away from their core business and development strengths.

handwriting on a tablet PC is what I define as bandwidth limiting. In order from fastest to slowest.

    Speech
    Typing
    Handwriting

All three can be done a tablet, granted speech to text is still a hit and miss tech, as long as said tablet is a convertible and NOT a slate design. Slate designs, ones that don't have a keyboard are for vertical markets and dedicated devices like multimedia players and the like.

Apple owns iphone.org (ownership info) (http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph?site=www.iphone.org). It just mirrors their homepage, but has a different IP. It appears they've owned it for a while. Is this old news?

Ancient. At least 3 years, maybe more.

    What we will get:

Movie service with 320x240 movies, Airport Express AV with compostie and s-video only.

    :(

Extremely unlikely. Or i`d say it`s impossible. We`ll definitely get DVD quality(atleast as an option). But my guesses are 720p will also be offered to those with a really really FAT internet pipe. Fat enough to fill a human body I guess:D .

I really think Apple will offer atleast 3 resolutions ie QVGA, DVD and(crossing fingers) HD 720p(may be at an extra cost and limited in number of available titles). Apple needs to do something which will set them apart from Amazon. I`ll be really disappointed if all we get is the same as Amazon.

Personally, I prefer iChat over Adium.

It's a much simpler, cleaner design and it integrates with OS X perfectly.

It's very fast loading, glitch free (pretty much), and video looks fantastic!!!!

I use AIM, and I love it. MSN is terrible in comparison, and AIM on Adium aint as good as AIM on iChat IMO...

I totally agree but the problem is all my freinds are on MSN so i can't use iChat hopefully things will change today though ;)

Intel is spending $9 billion to upgrade its fabs to 22nm. Building all of them from scratch would be much more expensive. ARM's current market cap is $7.5 billion.

ARM does not make chips. They license technology and core designs.

Maybe the key would be to offer the IPhone for all providers, make it run
a mobile version of OS X with IChat video. I have Sprint and their music store downloads in AAC format. I have wondered if their music store is actually ITunes and they resell it as their own. Does any other carriers download in AAC?
